Know When to Get Out of Rough Seas

In my last blog post, "Knowing When to Float", I wrote about knowing when it’s time to float, rest, and figure things out before continuing with your reproductive efforts. What if you can’t float any longer? What if the waves of life just keep on coming over and over, higher and higher? Really this could be about your relationship with your partner, your relationship with your work, or infertility treatment.

HighWavesWhat do people do with the rough waves of life? Sometimes you power through it, diving in to the problem and coming out on the other side. Sometimes you get knocked down on your behind and you do what you have to do to get up on your feet. Unfortunately, sometimes you get caught in a riptide and fear that you might drown. The bottom line is that you need to do something different.

Has it occurred to you that sometimes you just need to get out of the water for safety and a better plan? You really don’t always have to stay in rough water, you know. You don’t need to stay in a situation in which you are suffering. You can make your way to the sand for a while until you get your fear, confusion, or despair under control.
