Effective treatment of chronic illness is a key mission of Partner in Healing of Minneapolis (PIH). At PIH, we recognize that in many chronic conditions the conflict takes place at many levels of mind and body. For example, in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) there is conflict in the way your gut processes food, the way your mind perceives and responds to gut functioning problems, and the changing of your usual lifestyle habits and routines. Another example of mind-body conflict involves migraine headache. The headache episodes arise because the blood vessels and nerves have learned over-react to a variety of chemical triggers, stressful life circumstances, sleep problems, emotional shifts or hormonal fluctuations. Learning to manage chronic illness involves learning to modify your mind and body over-reactions to these various factors that give rise to the chronic illness problem.
Each chronic condition affects the mind and body differently. In fact, the details of a chronic illness can actually be different across two individuals suffering from the same condition (e.g., migraine headache, back pain). That is why at PIH, we base our chronic illness treatment plans on detailed and comprehensive evaluations designed to identify the particular factors and influences that activate, aggravate, and maintain the chronic illness process in each person’s unique situation.
After developing an understanding of the unique mind-body programs and patterns that define a person’s chronic illness condition, we work with you to devise a comprehensive treatment plan that draws upon Western and Eastern traditions that attend to the mental, emotional, physical, relational, and for some, the spiritual dimensions of healing. We review the treatment options with you. The particular path to healing you take to treat the chronic condition is ultimately up to you. We recognize that our job is to present you with well-researched alternatives and to partner with you in putting your plan into action.
At PIH, we can help you with the following chronic conditions:

We look forward to working with you on your way to balanced health.
