Psychological Assessments and Bariatric Assessments
Alecia performs psychological assessments prior to bariatric surgery or other surgical procedures. This usually consists of an intensive clinical interview followed by psychological testing. The assessments are usually requested by a physician or surgical group in order to better understand behavioral patterns or symptoms that may impact the overall success of surgery. The information gathered from the assessment is utilized to make recommendations that will increase the likelihood of success and improve overall treatment. She also sees clients during the bariatric surgery journey and afterwards.
Alecia can also perform psychological assessments to rule-out various diagnoses such as Bipolar Disorder, personality disorders, OCD, and other mood disorders.
Alecia received her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Minnesota School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in 2011. Prior to pursuing her dream of being a therapist, she was working as a Food Scientist and received her graduate degree from Iowa State University.
